A modern, full-bodied yet highly drinkable blend of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino, 10% Merlot and 5% Cabernet. Ruby red in colour, on the nose it conjures up ripe red fruit aromas, black currant and raspberries in particular. In the mouth it is full-bodied and enveloping, with soft and pleasant tannins.
Vine fields of Sangiovese, Sagrantino, Merlot and Cabernet are trained according to the spurred cordon method, with 4000 plants per hectare and a production yield of around 10 tons.
Each variety is harvested when perfectly ripe and vinified separately. Grapes are all fermented in steel barrels at controlled temperature. The wines are blended together following malolactic fermentation.
In French oak barrels for approximately six months, in cement barrels for another six months, then rested in the bottle for a further two months.
Excellent served with charcuterie and mature cheeses, also superlative with meat or game based dishes. The ideal wine for grilled and braised meat.
